How-to Train & Style Your Bangs with a Blow Dryer Brush

Today I’m sharing with you how I train and style my bangs. If you’re thinking about getting bangs this summer, training your bangs is something you’ll need to do. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as #iwokeuplikethis when you first cut your bangs. (Trust me, I learned the hard way.) Watch how I do it on YouTube or read the “cliff notes” below.

What You’ll Need:

✧ Heat protectant

✧ Blow dryer brush*

✧ Teasing comb or brush with boar bristles

✧ Sectioning clips

✧ Hair spray

*You can also do this technique with a blow dryer and round brush.

Instructions:

1. Prep Hair for Styling

Before I put any heat on my hair, I used a heat protecting oil to protect the integrity of my hair as well as the color.

2. Section Bangs Away From Hair

Using my teasing brush with the boar bristles, I brushed my bangs forward and sectioned my bangs away from my hair. This makes the blow drying part so much easier!

3. Train and Style Bangs

Next, I’m going to use my blow dryer brush to “round brush” my bangs. The heat removes any kinks or waves and the round brush gives it volume. Over time, this process trains my bangs to looks more like bangs and less like a DIY fringe gone wrong.

4. Style Hair

After I train and style my bangs, I style the rest of my hair with a curling wand.

5. Blend Bangs with Hair

When I’m done curling my hair, I go back to my blow dryer brush to blend my bangs with my hair, as well as remove any other waves that reappeared while styling my hair.

Voilá! That is how I style and train my bangs. It usually takes me about two weeks to train my bangs. However, if you’re not interested in training it because you’re like me and tend to wear your hair up and out of your face most of the day, this is a quick way to style it as needed.
