Happy Saturday, friends! The pandemic has been tough on everyone but especially on Hawaii’s local businesses. No matter if you’re shopping in person or online, I wanted to share with you some gift ideas you can shop to support Hawaii’s local businesses this Christmas.

Gift Ideas to Support Hawaii’s Local Businesses:

My mom is an extremely talented crafter. When I was younger, she would put together personalized acrylic gift boxes for my friends filled with goodies she made. (Usually crochet scrunchies and laminated luggage tags.) She’s a Jill of all trades for sure but is best known for her crochet amigurumi friends. Follow her on Instagram to shop one of her ready-to-ship items or DM her to inquire about placing a custom order.

Reading has become one of my favorite pastimes I picked up this year and while I love shopping for new books on Amazon, I also love supporting my local independent book shop, da Shop: books + curiosities. If you have a book lover as a friend, this would be a great place to pick up their next great read.

Noho Home

Noho Home is a woman-owned luxury home goods brand inspired by the owner’s Hawaiian culture. I’ve admired Noho Home’s products for a long time from afar. Then Angel gifted me their puakenikeni candle for my birthday this year and now I’m even more obsessed than before. They have everything from bed, bath, kitchen, and dining.

Kris Hawaii

Digital art has become quite popular over the years and Kris Hawaii is no exception. Her artwork gives me all the nostalgic retro Hawaii vibes and will make the perfect gift for decorating a home or office.

My go-to place for shopping cute keiki items for my friend’s babies is Mehana Mama, locally owned and operated by my friend and fellow Kauai girl. When she’s not being an elementary school teacher, she’s running her small business from home, creating hand-stamped must-haves for your keiki.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, here are two of my favorite Hawaii business marketplaces that make shopping local easy:
