Life Lately: February 2019

Hi friends, happy March! I hope you all had a much more refreshing February. Angel and I had a great start to the month despite all that happened in January.

We managed to get last minute tickets to see George Lopez live and he was awesome! I was laughing so hard that I was crying and it was the best date night we had in a really long time. We often get stuck in the same weekly routine of going out to dinner and shopping that something different like this makes our date nights extremely fun.

The rest of February was rather draining for me — emotionally and physically.

It’s weird to think that I picked the word joy as my word of the year because I have not been feeling joyful at all. As you know, I run this blog along side my 9 to 5 job and when work gets crazy, my passion projects take the back seat.

When I left my previous job almost a year ago, I was sure that what I was moving on to was what was going to put me on the right track to where I wanted my career to go. This job has proven itself to be challenging and i’ve gone home many nights crying because of the endless frustrations.

I was craving creative inspiration but was feeling too burnt out to do it. One night, I saw an Instagram post about a Mana Wahine Mixer featuring women in communications and I knew I needed to be there. Each woman had a different story about their career, but they each had the same theme of powerful lessons like your story matters, practice self-care, set boundaries and rise above. Their stories empowered me and made me realize who I am, what my gifts and talents are, and who I want to be.

I truly believe that sometimes God answers your prayers to show you that your plan is not the plan — not to punish you but to show you that He has something better if you let Him in to show you. Powerful lessons all around.

After the workshop, I made it a goal to go out with friends more and luckily, Angel and I were invited to go to the Kaneohe Sandbar for a friend’s going away party. It was our first time going out there and it was so beautiful! I’m looking forward to spring, the sun and more beach days. No matter how your February played out, I hope your March is even better!
