Life Lately: January 2019

Happy February friends! I am so glad that we are finally in a new month — did anyone else feel like January dragged on forever?

We started the new year with quite a scare. A house fire in an abandoned home near our apartment broke out in the early hours of the morning leaving me feeling all sorts of things. I woke up to the smell of smoke and fire fiercely blasting out the back of the house. We watched as the fire engulfed the entire home causing it to collapse trapping the fire underneath it. It took a few weeks for my anxiety from the fire to subside and if there’s one thing that I learned from this experience it’s that it’s okay to not be okay. I wouldn’t have been able to understand that or overcome my fears without my therapist so I feel super grateful for her validation and guidance through it all.

Luckily, we had a few opportunities to take our mind off things throughout the month. I bought Angel Gabriel Iglesias tickets for his birthday — which I thought was my best gift yet until he surprised me with an engagement. 💍

I also went to a dream board workshop hosted by my friend at The Botanical Remedy. She taught us how to manifest our best year yet followed by cutting up magazines to build dream boards that’ll inspire us to reach for our dreams.

The unexpected and anxiety-filled start to the new year motivated me to make my health and fitness a priority again so I signed up for Orangetheory Fitness and I started researching the Whole30 program.

A few of my friends have successfully completed the Whole30 program and they raved about their new found positive relationship with food, better and deeper sleep, and improved energy. Some of them even said they dropped a few pant sizes. I. WAS. SOLD. I wanted all of those things and made it my mission to learn as much as I could about the program before February began.

The beginning of February is busy for me work wise so I’m making sure to balance that with some fun and self-care time. As always you can keep up with me in my Instagram Stories so make sure you’re following me there.

I wish I could recap a much more fun and productive January, but I think everything that happened last month happened for a reason. It can only go up from here, right? No matter how your January played out, I hope February is even better!
