My Dry Skin Skincare Routine
This post is all about my dry skin skincare routine. I don't know about you, but I've been having some major dry skin. How do you dry skin babes live?!
I've been an oily skin girl all of my life. It wasn't until my early twenties when I first started having dry patches under my eyes. The older I get, the more dry skin I get. What is this life?!
Finding the right products for my type of dry skin has been my biggest beauty challenge to date. Here are the products that have earned a spot in my dry skin skincare routine:
The most important thing i've been doing to help re-hydrate my dry skin is drinking lots of water and green tea. Water and green tea both help to detox your body from the inside out ultimately giving you glowing skin. I've just finished drinking our stash of Bigelow Classic Green Tea and am now trying the Lipton Magnificent Matcha Green Tea.
For cleanser, i've been using the CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser morning and night to cleanse my skin of dirt and grime. I like this cleanser because it's gentle and it caters to my oily t-zone.
After cleansing I use a toner. Toners help to rebalance the skins pH levels (so important especially after you've stripped it from it's natural oils while removing your makeup and cleansing). I still love the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Toner.
After toning I use a serum. I finally used up my Glossier The Super Serums set and have moved on to the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum. Like my favorite Glossier serum, Super Glow, the Truth serum has vitamin c to help with brightening the skin and it's moisturizing. I take one pump in the palm of my hand, rub my hands together, then slather it on starting at the nose and moving out and upward. Any extra serum I apply to the neck. If you need another reason to purchase this serum, it smells uh-mae-zing, like orange creamsicles!
To seal in all of the serum's goodness, I apply moisturizer. I'm currently trying the Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream. I saw this in Love by Laur's Best of Beauty 2017 video and I trusted her recommendation since she has dry skin, too. Thick moisturizers normally scare me but my dry skin just drinks this one up. I use it morning and night, however, i'm not sure how I about the way it looks under makeup just yet.
(This small section pertains to the mornings only. We all should be using a sunscreen whether we are dry or oily. My favorite is the Tatcha Silken Pore Perfecting Sunscreen. I apply it after moisturizer).
My holy grail eye cream for dry skin is the Kiehl's Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment because it's literally the only eye cream that has helped get rid of the dry patches under my eye. I know this because I've tried lots of other eye creams over the years — cheap, expensive, organic, etc. — to aid my dry patches but this was the only one that worked.
Last but not least, I want to share with you the masks and exfoliators i've been using to rehydrate and slough off that dry skin because these products/steps are just as important as my everyday dry skin skincare routine.
For masks, I just picked up the Too Cool For School Hydration and 24K Gold Sheet. I used the Hydration mask the other night and the serum really hydrated my skin back to health. For exfoliators I've been living for the Tatcha Deep Rice Enzyme Powder and i've been using it every other night with the Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil. (It's like a spa facial at home). 💆🏽
This is the dry skin skincare routine i've been working with. It's not perfect but it's doing the job for now. I know this was a long post so if you've made it to the bottom, thank you for reading!
One last thing before I go, I wanted to let you know that I finally started that newsletter that's been on my blog to-do list forevs. Sign-up here to become a Beauty Babe and receive first access to my beauty secrets, blog updates, insider announcements, and more!
