Fall Reading List

Happy official first day of fall, y’all! First of all, I cannot believe we’re three-quarters of the way through 2020 and I spent the majority of it INDOORS. It is blowing my mind! Second, I am one of those people that absolutely refuses to decorate for a holiday / season BEFORE its “official” day. As much as I love Disney, I cannot bring myself to celebrate Halloween in September or Christmas before Thanksgiving — which by the way, is the BEST holiday in my honest opinion.
After posting my summer 2020 reading list, I fell into a reading slump and was not motivated to read. At the end of August, I finally got my reading mojo back and read some awesome books, not on my list, so I moved what I didn’t read during the summer to my fall reading list and am hyped to get through everything.
Here’s what’s on my fall 2020 reading list:
Woman Code by Alisa Vitti, HHC, AADP
Woman Code has been on my TBR list since 2018 when I quit birth control to rebalance my hormones and improve my mental health.
Many women that quit the pill talked about her work in women’s health and as I am always on a wellness journey — this time I’m learning to cycle sync — I made Woman Code a required reading during the fall because I heard it talks in-depth about this subject. Excited to finally be getting around to reading it!
Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi
Transcendent Kingdom is about a young woman named Gifty who’s a fifth-year candidate in neuroscience. She’s determined to discover the scientific basis for the suffering her immigrant Ghanaian family in Alabama is / has gone through. I am deeply drawn to fiction books that talk about mental health and generational trauma and I’m interested in seeing how this one turns out.
The Marriage Game by Sara Desai
The Marriage Game is about an aspiring entrepreneur that moves home and is forced to share an office over her dad’s Michelin starred restaurant with the CEO of a downsizing company. Looks like the entrepreneur and the CEO lean on each other through the chaos of each other’s lives and they must decide if it is love or just a game. I got mixed reviews on this book on Goodreads but overall, it sounds like a funny read. Looking forward to receiving it in the mail soon.
The Roommate by Rosie Danan
The Roommate has been all over my bookstagram feed and the sentiment is the same for many of my favorite bookstagrammers: 1) Don’t judge a book by its cover, 2) The Roommate is a MUST-READ, and 3) It is the steamiest book you’ll read this year. Can’t wait!
The Love Square by Laura Jane Williams
I loved Laura Jane Williams’s Our Stop so when I learned she was releasing The Love Square this summer I made sure to add it to my summer reading list. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it through my summer reading list so here it is on my fall reading list.
Don’t You Forget About Me by Mhairi McFarlane
My new friend Cahlia of South Co. Studio recommended Mhairi McFarlane’s Don’t You Forget About Me after posting how much I loved If I Never Met You.
Crazy Stupid Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams
Crazy, Stupid Bromance is the third book in The Bromance Book Club series and features Nick, Mack’s hacker friend that helped him and Liv dig up dirt on a yucky celebrity chef in Undercover Bromance. I was a huge fan of Mack in The Bromance Book Club, which is why I desperately needed to read Undercover Bromance. Not really feeling the same way about Nick, but based on the #booksteam in her first two book we’ll just have to see how it goes.
Before I end this post, I want to express how happy I am that I made reading a priority in 2020. It’s one of the activities that’s been keeping me sane through the global pandemic and it also keeps me from mindlessly scrolling my phone at night. It truly is one of the best investments I made for myself this year.
