Our Favorite Christmas Movies

Christmas is a big deal in casa Orozco. Although we are firm believers in decorating for Christmas after Thanksgiving, Angel will start drinking egg nog when it hits grocery store shelves, and I start getting into the Christmas spirit in November. But there's one tradition that makes the holidays feel special, and it's our weeklong celebration of watching our favorite Christmas movies. What are your favorite Christmas movies?

Our Favorite Christmas Movies

01. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. I never watched Christmas Vacation until I met Angel, and even after he introduced it to me, I wasn't too fond of it. Until last year, I watched it with no distractions (i.e., sans phone), and I was dying from laughter. Clark Griswold is a Christmas mood, and he reminds me of Angel during the holidays.

02. Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Out of all the How The Grinch Stole Christmas versions out in the world, Jim Carey as The Grinch is by far my favorite. His acting is spectacular and reminiscent of The Mask (one of my favorite movies growing up). If I tried hard enough, I could probably recite all of The Grinch's lines to you.

03. A Charle Brown Christmas. A Charlie Brown Christmas was a holiday staple growing up. It's a nostalgic movie for sure, and it has my favorite Christmas song of all time, "Christmas Time is Here" by Vince Guaraldi.

04. Elf. Elf is another holiday movie staple in our home. It's an all-around fun movie to watch with some of the best quotes to repeat during the holidays. I don't think anyone else could play Buddy the Elf, as well as Will Ferrell did.

05. The Holiday. The Holiday is probably my only favorite holiday rom-com out there. I first fell in love with Jude Law and his delicious accent in this movie. And Kate Winslet in her tiny, snowy cottage was spectacular.

06. The Muppet Christmas Carol. Angel is a huge Muppets fan, and so, of course, we watch this movie every Christmas.

07. Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas. I've watched Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas every year since it premiered in 1999. It's a beautiful story about love and the true meaning of Christmas, and I cry watching it every damn year.

08. Home Alone. Would you believe me if I told you last year was the first year I watched Home Alone in its entirety? It's true. It wasn't a movie I watched growing up, so when we found out it was on Disney+, Angel made me watch it, and I loved it.

09. A Bad Mom’s Christmas. I freakin' loved Bad Moms, so when A Bad Mom's Christmas came out, I knew I needed to watch it. First of all, Kathryn Hahn's character is pee-your-pants hilarious! She's so talented, and I can't believe she went from playing Carla to playing Agatha Harkness in WandaVision. Also, we love Jay Hernandez.

10. Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town. Santa Claus is Comin' to Town is another one of those nostalgic movies that made its way into our Christmas movie lineup. You could probably guess that I like this movie because Mrs. Claus's name is Jessica.
